Tour Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Prince Edward MTR station to begin this free tour of the Kowloon Markets. Ready to immerse yourself in the essence of Hong Kong?

Our first stop will be the Goldfish Market, one of the most iconic places in the city. Here, we'll learn about the connection between goldfish and Feng Shu, the Chinese philosophy that promotes prosperity and harmony in the home. Did you know that it's believed that a goldfish can attract good luck and balance? You'll be surprised how something so simple can have so much power!

Next, we'll arrive at Fa Yuen Street Market, known for its fresh fruits, medicinal herbs and all kinds of traditional products. While we're there, we'll discover the local culture through its food and learn about the benefits of plants used in Chinese medicine—a real immersion into the daily life of Hong Kong!

Our next stop will be the Fa Yuen Street Municipality Building, where we won't only see the fresh food market, but also how the people in Hong Kong live in such small but functional spaces. In this building, the markets are located on the ground floor, while the flats are on the upper floors—an impressive example of how they make the most of every inch of their space!

Afterwards, we'll explore the Canton Road Market, a bustling place where you can browse a wide variety of items, from textiles to souvenirs. Here, we'll learn more about local traditions and the influence of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, especially when it comes to gambling culture. Would you like to know how Mahjong relates to the everyday life of Hong Kong people? We'll find out together!

Finally, we'll arrive at the famous and bustling Ladies Market, a market known for its fashion items, watches and souvenirs. We'll see second-hand phones, figurines and manga, vintage cameras, vinyl records, vintage clothes, slippers and even tailor-made suits. This is the perfect place to put the bargaining techniques we'll teach you into practice and take away something unique from Hong Kong.

After between 2 and 2.5 hours, we'll bring our free tour of Kowloon to an end.
