Victoria Peak

The highest hill on Hong Kong Island at 552 metres tall, Victoria Peak offers spectacular views over Victoria Harbour and the city's iconic skyline.

Victoria Peak, also known as Mount Austin or simply The Peak, is the tallest hill on Hong Kong Island at 552 metres (1,811 feet) in height. It has become one of the region's most popular tourist attractions, receiving seven million tourists every year.

The best view in Hong Kong

The Peak offers unparalleled panoramic views over the entire city, making it the best viewpoint in Hong Kong. To make the most of the spectacular views, we recommend choosing a clear day to visit and going up to Victoria Peak during the day and at night, or at the very least visiting at sunset, to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Given the large number of tourists visiting Victoria Peak, two shopping and leisure centres have been built at the top: Peak Tower and Peak Galleria. Peak Tower is home to the upper terminal of the Peak Tram funicular railway and from its viewing terrace, you can enjoy impressive views of the city. There are also several restaurants with incredible views.

A little further up is Sky Terrace 428 - located at 428 metres above sea level - a panoramic viewing platform that offers even better views. Entrance to this viewpoint is paid but can be combined with Peak Tram tickets (adults one-way Peak Tram Sky Pass: 84 HKD (US$ 10.80)).

Peak Tram

The most popular ways to get to The Peak are by hiking - around 5 kilometres uphill from Central or from Aberdeen - or by the historic funicular railway known as the Peak Tram. The tram's lower terminus is just under a 15-minute walk from MTR Central Station, and you can buy your ticket there, either just for the tram or the SkyPass combo ticket. You can also buy online in advance at The Peak's website.
